(2020) There is nothing to compare to the joy of making a journey with one of our African Sons as they dedicate their lives to Ministry in the Lord's name except when there are two. With great joy ROTA and the Church of Buffalo witnessed the Rite of Holy Orders on September 1, 2019 as Moses Ikuelogbon was ordained a priest for the DIocese of Buffalo, NY. It has been a long journey but one that has resulted in so many blessings. Because Moses was a son of St. Martin de Porres he celebrated his "First Mass" at St. Martins amid much festivities.
Moses received the gift of some vestments and a chalice which was gifted in 2017 to ROTA by the late Rev. Robert McArtney. After having the chalice refinished and replated it made the perfect gift for this new Holy Priest of Jesus Christ.
COVID made life difficult for many of us and it delayed the ordination of our second son, Denning Achidi. But on Saturday, September 19, 2020 we gathered at St. Joseph Cathedral where our Apostolic Administrator, Most Rev. Edward Scharfenberger, Bishop of Albany, layed on hands and ordained Rev. Mr. Denning Achidi to the Holy Priesthood of Jesus Christ.
Even during this COVID time many of Fr. Denning's family who now live in the Washington, DC area were able to travel in for the celebration. Fr. Denning also received from ROTA a gift of a refurbished and replated golden chalice.
